How do I set administrator permissions for Kuali Build?
- To set administrator permissions for Kuali Build, navigate to the System Settings area by clicking on the Kuali Build icon in the top left of the Kuali Build Dashboard.
- Select System Settings from the dropdown.
- Then go to "Permissions"
The administrator permissions are divided into two different categories. Below is a description of these two options that you will want to consider as you're configuring your system.
Who has access to create new apps?
System Creators: This section allows you to list users and groups that should have access to create and administer new apps. These users will only have access to edit and administer the apps they have created.
You also have the option to give All Authenticated Users the ability to create new apps, but generally this option is used sparingly.
Who has access to administer Kuali Build?
System Administrators: The users and groups you list under this option will give these individuals all permissions in Kuali Build. These individuals will be able to see, edit, and delete all users' apps. They will be able to add new users to the system and adjust permissions accordingly. We generally recommend you keep this list to a few select individuals.
Note: In order to be a Kuali Build admin., your user in the Kuali Groups area must be assigned the role of Administrator. See the User Permissions guide for more information about individual user settings.
How do I give access to large groups of people?
While individuals and small groups of people can be given access throughout the system using the Groups and Roles functionality, at times you may find it necessary to give large groups of people (800+) access to certain parts of Kuali Build. For example, you may want to make a form available for all faculty on campus but not students. Rather than using the Kuali Build Group functionality to give these permissions, we recommend using the Affiliations permission option (See Large Group Support (Affiliations) for more information).
