The Kuali Build team is excited to announce the release of our latest form builder gadget: Signature gadget. The Signature gadget will allow you to request the signature of a form submitter or reviewer during the form submission or workflow processes. Submitters or reviewers have the option to type, draw, or upload an image of their signature.
To add the Signature Gadget to your form, simply drag and drop the gadget onto the form builder. By default the Signature gadget is a required field, but you can adjust this in the configuration panel on the right side of the screen.
For more information on how you might allow reviewers to sign a form see How do I allow reviewers to add information to a form during the workflow process?
Note: We provide eSignature support that is legally binding in the U.S. and Canada by meeting the US E-Sign Act https://www.docusign.com/products/electronic-signature/legality/united-states/ . Please note, this does not meet the requirements of a Digital Signature.
What happens to a signature if a form is sent back in the workflow process or denied?
At times a reviewer may determine that a document needs to be sent back to the form submitter or to a previous reviewer in the workflow process. When a send back happens after a signature has been included on the form, the signature may be removed.
If a document is sent back to a step before or equal to the step where the signature was added, the signature will be removed from the document and will require the document to be signed again. If the form is sent back to a step that takes place after the submitter or a previous reviewer has signed the document, then the signature will remain and not be deleted from the document.
